Oh, No. Not ANOTHER Meme!

Yes, another one.  Blame Pyewacket again.  😀  But first, thank you for your lovely compliments on the February Lady.  I’m quite thrilled with it, personally.  For anyone who hasn’t made it yet, I’d definitely recommend choosing a size with zero or slightly negative ease.  I think it fits more flatteringly that way, personally.

And I’ve definitely developed a fondness for orange, which is funny because it’s not a color I used to be all that interested in.  That changed about, hmm, 12 years ago now, back when I still lived in PA and was still active at the Academy Theatre in Meadville.  In the summer of 1996, I was in a production of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”  (And before any smartasses ask, I was one of the brides.  If I can dig up a picture, I’ll have to post it – I wore a PLATINUM blonde wig.  It was hilarious.)  In typical fashion, the brides and brothers were color-coded.  So, I wore an orange calico dress for most of the show, and a peach eyelet dress for the big dance number, and the guy I played opposite wore an orange shirt.  It was all very cute and matchy-matchy.  We had such fun doing that show (and I dropped about 15 pounds during rehearsals.  I wasn’t even overweight to start with back then!) and starting with that memory, I’ve developed a fondness for orange, and it’s a close second to green as my favorite color.  (It doesn’t hurt that it also makes me think of one of my very dearest friends, although that’s a more recent association.)

So, anyway, the meme.

– Choose a singer/band/group
– Answer using ONLY titles of songs by that singer/band/group
– Tag 7 more people. Or not.

I choose:  Billy Joel.

1. Are you male or female? She’s Always A Woman
2. Describe yourself. I Go to Extremes (alternately, “Shameless”  :D)
3. What do people feel when they’re around you? And So It Goes (Tough one for me to answer right now.  I considered “2000 Years”…)
4. How would you describe your previous relationship? Don’t Ask Me Why
5. Describe your current relationship. You’re My Home
6. Where would you want to be now? New York State of Mind
7. How do you feel about love? Leave a Tender Moment Alone
8. What’s your life like? I’ve Loved These Days
9. What would you ask for if you had only one wish? Honesty
10. Say something wise. You’re Only Human

I might have to make an iTunes playlist of those, actually…

I considered doing this with all Broadway song titles, but I decided that was a little bit of a cheat.  🙂 I might go back and do it for fun later, though.  And no, I’m not tagging anyone.  Take it and run with it if you feel inspired.

Happy Sunday!

  • You have left a huge smile on my face with this meme. One of my guilty pleasures is Billy Joel. He is my mother’s absolute favorite, which means that most of my growing up years were spent listening to and memorizing the lyrics of his songs as my mom played album after album (on vinyl) on the living room stereo system, and my older sister and I argued over who got to follow along with the liner notes. I’ve seen him in concert several times over the years; they were usually family events for us. His music is like comfort food for me. I’m glad to see that someone else knows his more obscure and early songs (You’re My Home is near the top of my list of favorites, though Summer Highland Falls is most definitely at the very top). Thank you for the warm fuzzies. Have a lovely Sunday!

  • I once used “And So It Goes” to explain the concept of a suspended 4th to a guitar player. Billy Joel enables geeks — one of the many reasons to love him. 🙂

  • That’s a fun one! I’d be so tempted to pick one of the… raunchier bands out there.

  • Billy Joel rocks! I am totally using this meme. Trying to decide between HIM and David Bowie, though HIM is rapidly winning out…

  • Oh, and one other Barenaked Ladies song: “Blame It On Me.” Coincidence? *bum bum buuummmmm!*
