About Me

I'm a married knitter, crocheter, and newbie spinner living in the Maryland suburbs with my photographer- computer geek hubby, 3 cats, and 3 dogs. And yarn. A LOT of yarn. Just ask my hubby.

My Friends Crack Me Up

This happens on a regular basis, true, but in this case I’m referring to one particular instance involving one particular friend.

Backstory: Around Easter, penny_karma had been grumbling about her inability to locate Cadbury Mini Eggs. I happened to be in my local Target right after Easter, and found a crap-ton of them on uber-clearance. […]

Ding Dong!

Ok, so, how many of you immediately thought “Avon calling!” at that?

Just me? Oh, well. Anyway, that was my intention. This is just a quickie post to help out my dear friend Mindy. She has just started selling Avon products. What you may not realize (I didn’t, until recently) is that your Avon lady […]

How Cool Is This?

So, last spring, I did some test-crocheting for my friend Mary Beth Temple. I was working on squares for a booklet she had written, to be published by Leisure Arts. Fast forward to about a month ago, and MBT blogged that her book was out. My (signed!) copy arrived while I was in Omaha.

Well, There’s a Shocker.

Glittrgirl posted this today, so I thought I’d check it out for myself.

Your rainbow is shaded green.

What is says about you: You are an intelligent person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook […]

Halloween 2008

OK, Halloween is about my favorite holiday of the entire year. Seriously – it’s theatre-geek heaven. 😀 This year, we went to two parties – one at Alex’s house on Friday night, and one at JMac’s on Saturday. Kris didn’t take his camera to JMac’s, but he got some pictures Friday night of the costumes, […]

Wild and Wet Weekend

Earlier this week, Carrie invited me to go with her to the Navy-SMU game on Saturday. I’ve never been to a Navy game before, and OMG. I had SO MUCH FUN. First of all, the members of her dad’s class are all very cool and really friendly. Plus, they know from food. 😀 It was […]

Welcome Visitors, Unwelcome Reason

So, Kirsten* calls me yesterday morning. She and I don’t actually talk on the phone that much any more (not like when we were kids… hoo boy), so when the phone rang and it was here, I figured something was up. I was right.

She was calling to tell me that her cousin Mark, a […]

Thanks and Updates

Thank you guys for the good wishes for N. I heard from Steve yesterday afternoon – N made it through the surgery just fine and was home and resting. If you want to keep up with him, Steve should be updating his blog, too.

In other news, this morning I used my brand-new goLITE, purchased […]

Spare Some Thoughts.

So, our friends Steve and Mindy’s son N went in this morning for surgery on his ankles. Basically, his Achilles tendons are too short, so he walks on his toes. They are cutting the tendons partway through and he’ll be in casts to hold his feet at a 90 degree angle to his legs for […]

A Request for Some Friends

So, you guys have heard me mention our friends Steve and Mindy, right? Well, I may not have mentioned it, but one of their two fabulous kids happens to have special needs. So, Steve posted the other day about the Special Olympics World Winter Games Scarf Project. They are working with Coats and Clark to […]
