So, CBear posted this link on the knittyboards, and I had to post the comic here. It’s yesterday’s “Rhymes with Orange” strip, and it’s TOO funny.
In other news, I finished up the mittens yesterday morning while we were waiting for Mindy to recover from Saturday night. I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say it’s probably not a wise move to make the statement that one has never played a drinking game when in the presence of one’s husband and friends. The marathon game of Asshole ended around 3AM. She was mostly vertical by, oh, noon-ish. 😀
Anyway, the stitches are still a bit uneven, because I haven’t blocked them yet. I LOVE them. They fit perfectly, and I think the pattern is just too cute.
I tweaked the pattern a little from the original, in that I only used three colors (the designer used a fourth for that solid stripe between the ribbing and the hand), and I added an additional repeat of the motif so that the mitts were a little longer.
So, what am I working on now? Well, when you’ve got kick-ass mittens, you need a hat to match them, right?
I adapted the chart from the back of the hand, and I think it’s going to work well for the hat. We shall see! 😀
😀
Nice mitts!
No, I didn’t read the comics today at lunchtime… no, I didn’t think of you at all when I read this strip… nope.
🙂
(Did you see the one a few week’s back about using decorative baskets to keep things organized? No, that one’s not hung on our fridge as a taunt from lovely hubby…)
Ah, Asshole. I’ve forgotten some wonderful nights of playing that game. 😉
Um … I’ve never played a drinking game either? (ducks for cover …) Cool mittens! I took a picture at the Fort Meyers, Fla., airport just for you yesterday!
Oh I suck. I can’t believe how fast you did those mittens!!!
Awesome mittens! I really like the dragonflies.
The mittens totally rock. (Drinking games with you guys is always dangerous…I’ve learned my lesson once or twice…)
Love those mitts! Good luck with the hat! Hehe..we played quarters, your game sounds verrry interesting 😉
Great! Just in time to send them to me! Thanks, Pam, for always having me on the brain. I have to live somewhere. Just add some pink sparkly Fun Fur, and I’ll happily sport them about Germany.
You’re such a great friend…
*giggle*
Pretty mittens!
“Rhymes With Orange” is one of my underground favorite comic strips 😀
Yay mittens! They look fabulous. Can’t wait to see the hat!
Jason cut it out and hung it on our whiteboard on Sunday. 😛
The mittens came out SO CUTE!!!
I love those mittens!
Beautifully done! Hats off (HA!) to you as well for making a matching headtopper! I just finished a stranded colorwork hat for my MIL (although not NEARLY that intricate) and er, yeah, won’t be doing that again too soon.
