About Me

I'm a married knitter, crocheter, and newbie spinner living in the Maryland suburbs with my photographer- computer geek hubby, 3 cats, and 3 dogs. And yarn. A LOT of yarn. Just ask my hubby.

Yup, I’m a Twit!

I Am Not a Gamer.

No, really, I’m not.  I don’t get the appeal of first-person shooters or stuff like Grand Theft Auto.  It holds absolutely no appeal to me.

OK, yes, I love me some Tetris.  And I’m pretty good at it.  Ask Kris – I kick his butt fairly regularly.  😉  But that’s not a REAL game – there’s no plot or anything – it’s just puzzles and patterns.

And of course we love Rock Band and Guitar Hero (and Karaoke Revolution, when they still made those), but that’s just a way to fuel my fantasies of being a performer.  Plus, they are good party games, especially if the beer has been flowing and people aren’t all self-conscious.

We do have a D&D game going with Carrie and Alex.  Two, actually, come to think of it.  We haven’t been able to play that much lately with all of our schedules, but they will be back.

I haven’t touched my Asterix and Obelix game in months – I’d have to start over at the beginning to get through any part of it again.  That actually sounds kind of fun, though.  Maybe I can convince Kris to play with me.

And yes, I’ve spent the last three days playing Lego Batman on the XBox with Kris, but really, that’s because it was his birthday yesterday (He thanks everyone for the birthday wishes, by the way).  Sure, I’m having a complete blast, and I’m seeing little Lego pieces when I close my eyes at night.  OK, and I might possibly have influenced him into playing “just one more level” a couple of times after trivia last night, but I’m not actually a GAMER.  Not really.

Aw, crap.  I am a gamer, aren’t I?

  • Of course you are. And gamer girls are sexy.

Now I’m all tempted to roll up a new Angband character so that I can slay spaghetti-o’s in my sleep.

  • Um. Yes.

Not a super extra crazy gamer, but you ARE a gamer. Congrats! (?)

  • Please give the K-man belated birthday wishes for me. Glad you guys enjoyed the Lego Batman–it looks like it would be fun. I tend to like the games that are more nostalgic (all Atari-type games, the old skool arcade games). J’s bought the pinball for Wii that he keeps playing. Would it really be a bad thing to be a gamer chick?

  • If you write a whole post claiming you’re not, you most definitely are. 🙂

  • Doesn’t it feel better now that you’ve admitted it?

  • I play it with Tito every morning! I like being Robin. And Catwoman.

  • You’re not a gamer until you have completely reversed your sleep cycles and the mere thought of the sun makes you hiss like a vampire. Also, I am sure there is a prerequisite that you’ve got to have a minifridge full of Red Bull next to the couch if you want to be a real gamer. 🙂 Something tells me that any minifridge that would sit next to your couch would be filled with something different. Like beer. Or maybe yarn. But that would be silly. Who would want to drink cold yarn? Everyone knows yarn tastes better at room temp.

    geek =P

    Love yoU!

Hm, I see lego pieces at night too–and if I have to get up to pee, I step on them too!

I only sleep with a gamer 😉 Hasn’t worn off yet!

  • Lego pieces at night, eh? I had the same problem with the original Super Mario Brothers. Ah, good times, good times!

  • Yup, hate to say it darlin’, but you are in fact a gamer. So go on, shout it from the rooftop, baby! “I’m a gamer and I’m proud!”

What’s wrong with being a gamer? =D Btw that and all the crafty stuff you do, you no doubt have kick-ass hand-eye coordination! Mental acuity! Superspeed reflexes! It’s brain exercise darnit, that’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
